Caillou and his family go grocery shopping but not at the grocery store. They go to a farmer’s market, where Caillou learns about locally grown food and foods that have to take a plane to get to the supermarket. Caillou also finds out that strawberries are available only in summer, but he discovers all sorts of other flavors. The family chooses something new, fresh from the farm, for the night’s supper. This book will inspire children to try new fruits and vegetables at the local farmers, market just like Caillou, while also instruction on contemporary concerns in a simple and fun way.
